God invested Christ in you. What is your rate of return on God’s investment in you? Sermon Synopsis: God does not call anyone that God does not gift and God does not gift anyone that God does not call. “Stewardship” is a word we use to identify the things we do in response to the gifts God has given us. Jesus’ parable of the talents given for service while the master was away illustrates possible responses as well as expectations. The parable is found in Matthew 25:14-30. There is a similar parable in Luke 19:11-27. Both indicate that God is serious about receiving a good return on His investment. In I Thessalonians 5:1-11 Paul writes “For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” God invested Christ in you. What is your rate of return on God’s investment in you?

Ever wonder why we have so many laws? Sermon Synopsis: Ever wonder why we have so many laws? I do. Some people say it is to bring order to our civilization. I think it is because people keep finding loop holes in the laws we have. God gave Moses the Ten Commandments and they were eventually turned into 613. That didn’t stop the leaders from finding a way to falsely accuse Jesus and condemn him to death. Jesus made “doing the right thing” simple. He summarized it all in two short commands. Matthew 22:37-40, NIV " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Who is the Lord your God? Jesus identified the Lord your God as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He taught his disciples to call God “Abba,” Daddy. Do you want to know who Jesus identified as your neighbor? Jesus said it was any one you can help. “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 7:12, NIV) Who are the “others” living around you? God the Father has called the church to be a “holy people” in Christ Jesus empowered by the Holy Spirit within them to love others in Jesus’ name. Scripture References (NIV): Lev. 19:1-2, 15-18; Matt. 22:34-46; 1 John 3:16-24 Grace and peace to you in Christ Jesus, Dr. Sonny Strange, Pastor
