Synopsis: We are all familiar with turning pages of a book or newspaper even if it happens to be a digital version. I want you to look with me at a couple of Scripture passages where the Holy Spirit turned the pages for believers. First let’s look at Acts 8:14-17. The ones who were considered to be “not my people” were transformed into “my people” (Hosea 1). When it happened the “insiders” of the faith were shocked at how the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit. That made them one in faith.
The Holy Spirit turned the pages of faith forward at the baptism of Jesus. John said it was going to happen. He saw the beginning of it but knew there was much more to come (Luke 3:15-22).
This is the time of the year when we turn the pages on our calendar and march forward into a new year. Calendars are not the only thing that needs turning. Is it time for you to allow the Holy Spirit to turn the page in your life? You probably already know what needs to happen, but that doesn’t mean you know how to make it happen. The Holy Spirit knows. Maybe it involves turning the page on a relationship, or finding new meaning for your life, or ... well … you know. God knows too.
