The Celebration of Discipline
Synopsis: Paul said “if we would examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God…” (1 Corinthians 11:27-32). That sounds like a good incentive for self-examination. In the same way self-discipline sounds a lot better than God’s discipline. Both will lead to a better you which is what God has in mind.
God examines our motives and our heart and so should we (Proverbs 16:2; 21:2). God is the one who sets the standard and Jesus is the one who demonstrated how. Even He disciplined His life according to the Father’s standards (Philippians 2:1-18).
Believers are in good company when they examine their motives for actions against the standard of the Father’s love.
