Sermon Synopsis: Recognizing God’s Children Romans 8:12-25 Are there recognizable characteristics of the children of God? Paul starts Romans 8:12-25 with another “therefore.” Because we are unable to save ourselves God sent His Son to establish the way of righteousness and His Spirit to birth believers into the kingdom “therefore” believers have an “obligation ... to live according” to the Spirit of Christ within them. It is a family trait. Another trait is that believers are gifted for special service to the body. Gifts vary from believer to believer. We do not all have the same gifts, but all are gifted. God believers have a special relationship. The children of God are recognized because they relate to the God of all creation as “Abba.” Faith is another characteristic of God’s children. What will be has not yet appeared, so believers wait for it. |
