Pin the Tail on the Donkey
Synopsis: This is the third in my summer series on “Games Children Play.” The sermons are not really about the games. I simply use them as illustrations for my messages.
In today’s message I use “Pin the Tail on the Donkey.” I make it personal by remembering settings from my own experience where the donkey was drawn on the side of a barn.
Make no mistake about it, I take the Christian life very seriously (1 Corinthians 9:24-27) and so should all believers. We should, as Paul wrote, “Run to win.” In PhilippiansPaul wrote, “I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”
But what happens when believers face some very real challenges? Life has a way of blindsiding us with situations that spin us around on our heels and leave us so disoriented that we miss the mark. That is what happened to Peter (Luke 22:31-32). Jesus knew that our adversary likes to use that tactic to defeat us and destroy our ability to serve the Lord. Jesus told Peter believers were to use their experiences to help other believers find the mark (Hebrews 12:1-4, 12-13). Don’t miss the mark!
