What Does Becoming a Senior Mean?
Synopsis: Today is Senior Day at Emmanuel. This is the day we celebrate the transition in life that comes with being a senior. The race of life does not end with graduation or retirement the runners simply move into the next phase of the course of life. My sermon celebrates that transition and calls attention to the course of life that lies ahead (Ephesians 6:10-18).
We celebrate the life transition of High School and College seniors as they graduate (Hebrews 12:1-4).
We also celebrate the life transition of those who move into the senior adult category (2 Timothy 4:6-8).
The raced of life does not end with a transition in status. But hopefully the runners are more prepared for the course of life that lies before them. The finish line of believers is set in glory where we will join the heavenly host cheering on those who continue the race. May God the Father bless those who today celebrate a transition in life with a renewed hope for tomorrow and courage to face the challenges of the course of life that lies ahead.
