No Backing Down
Synopsis: “No Backing Down” is how I would describe what God said to the prophet in the opening verses of Jeremiah 1:4-10. One thing is for sure, the LORD was not backing down (Jeremiah 20:7-9). The same characteristic if found abundantly in Jesus Christ (Luke 13:10-17). Surely Jesus did not back down and God the Father didn’t either. It is the same characteristic that is called for in the lives of those who believe in Jesus (Hebrews 12:18-29).
No Backing Down, and yet we do back down. Our inaction may be the first way we back down. Our failure to take action is sin (James 4:17) that creates a vacuum in the life of the church. That vacuum sucks others into inaction as well. Do you know what happens in a vacuum? That’s Right, “NOTHING!” And if your good with “NOTHING” then you’re not good with God. Hear the word of the LORD spoken to Jeremiah as the word of the Lord spoken to you, “Today I appoint you to stand up…” You do not have to live your spiritual life in a vacuum. Actions obedient to the will of our Heavenly Father will break your spiritual vacuum every time. But don’t get ahead of yourself, get right with God first and then your Heavenly Father will show you the way of obedience (Romans 12:1-2)
