Listening to God Through the Bible
Synopsis: I often hear people say they are “listening for God to tell them something.” What I want to ask is are you listening to what God already said. Listening to God Through the Bible should be a first step toward listening to God. The Bible is where we not only learn what others have heard but we also learn to recognize the voice of God. When believers recognize the voice of God they will be less likely to be deceived by imitations. God has spoken directly to believers in times past and God continues to speak, sometimes giving specific instructions. Believers need to learn to recognize the voice of God and respond.
God has spoken to His people in times past and some of that word is still available to us today in the pages of our Bibles. God continues to speak to His people today. The Bible serves all believers helping them to recognize the voice of God and to be able to compare the message they hear with what others have heard in the past. I hope you will listen to the reading of the Bible so that you may hear what the Lord is saying to you and become better able to distinguish God’s voice and God’s will as you journey through life.
