Sermon Series for 2012 January 22, 2012
God the Son Revelation 1:17-18
Synopsis: What if the God of all creation, the “I AM” of the Bible wants to have a relationship with you? How would that work? Well, I believe the Bible teaches that the “I AM” wants to have a relationship with the created and “Jesus” is the answer to how that works. Jesus is the name of the incarnate God the Son or as the title is found in the Gospels “the Son of God.” Jesus introduces us to a relationship with the “I AM” in two distinctive ways: natural, earthly or human, and divine or supernatural. The names used of the incarnate can easily be divided into these two categories as they are applied to God the Son. We have a lot to learn of the Divine from the names of God in the Bible. They reflect the relationship that others have had with the divine. They also teach us how that relationship works. The bottom line is that you have no God if you have no relationship with God. Jesus, the incarnate I AM, blazed a trail whereby we can have a relationship with God that will never end.
Scripture Text (NLT): Luke 1:31-33; Revelation 1:17-18; Matthew 1:22-23, Revelation 3:14, 1:8.
