Synopsis: Jacob’s experience with God (Genesis 32:22-31) was a game changer in his life. No more was he to be identified as Jacob (the heel grabber).” His new identity was an expression of the transformation that came out of his night wrestling with God. That event was what I call a Game Changer in his life. “Jacob” became “Israel” the one who “wrestles with God.”
Jacob is not the only one who has experienced a “game changing” event in his life (2 Timothy 3:14-4:5). Certainly Saul’s transformation into Paul the Apostle to the Gentiles is a prime example, but there are many others. All of us who have experienced the grace of God in Christ Jesus have had a Game Changer moment too. Game Changer moments change the direction of our life setting our course toward heaven. It is the power of the Spirit of the Father and the Son in our life that brings about that change (John 6:43-45). The Power of God continues to draw us ever closer to God’s presence.
