Forecasting the Unexpected
1 Thessalonians 3:1-8
Synopsis: Not everything that happens in life is unexpected, but the unexpected happens so regularly that one can certainly plan on the unexpected happening. You can take Jesus’ word on it (John). One of the most frightening aspects of the unexpected is that we are not in control of life.
I have talked to a lot of people who seem to be what I will call “control freaks.” In other words they freak out whenever anything happens they were not expecting. In my attempts to comfort then and to help them find peace in life I often try to assure them that they are not in control of life. Things happen in life that we do not in control. That is where our faith comes in to guide us as we hope for better things to come allow God’s love to flow through us to those around us.
