Are You Talking To Me?
Synopsis: Peter, James and John on the Mount of Transfiguration heard the voice of God the Father say, “This is my own dear Son, with whom I am pleased—listen to him!” (Matthew 17:5, NLT) The question I hear echoing from their mountain top experience is “Are you listening?” All too often our reply is “Are You Talking To Me?”
Jesus boiled all of the words of the law and the prophets down into two statements (Matthew 22:34-40). One dealt with our relationship with God. The other dealt with our relationship with one another. Generally speaking, we don’t do really well with either one of them. We typically single out Matthewas the “Golden Rule.” Let’s see if we can make out what it says and yes, I am talking to you!
Scripture Text (NLT): Matthew 17:5, 22:34-40; Leviticus; Matthew 5:43-48, ; Romans ; Matthew 7:1-5.
